The 22-year-old Super2 Series driver makes his Supercars Championship debut in a third Tickford Mustang this weekend.
Goodall pulled together a sponsorship package for the event, which is designed to prepare him for enduro duties alongside Thomas Randle.
The Adelaide-based mortgage broker admits he’s been leaning heavily on mentor Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom.
“I’ve been blowing up Frosty’s phone in the lead-up to it. He’s been really good and instrumental,” Goodall said.
“He knows what it takes to race these guys, and even last time at Darwin he had a bit of a taste again.
“So I’ve been speaking to him and getting all the knowledge I can.

“There’s such good experience that I’ve got to bounce off between Frosty, Tom (Randle) and Cam (Waters).”
Winterbottom was called up to substitute for Randle in Darwin after the Supercars regular was forced to withdraw amid heat stress.
Goodall was overlooked for the seat, in part due to his Super2 Series race taking place just prior to the 200km Supercars contest.
“I’m a racer, I love to race, right?” he said of whether he’d put his hand up for this substitute driver.
“So you can tell me that I’d do another 1000 kilometres that day and I would have put my hand up, definitely.
“But we had our Super2 program to focus on, we had Frosty there on hand, and obviously he’s a very safe set of hands.
“I think Tickford made the right call.”
Although confident in his ability, Goodall is under no illusions about the task at hand in Townsville.
He enters the weekend with limited laps in the Gen3 cars – his single test day a rain-hit outing at The Bend last month.
“It’s not going to be easy. It’s pretty brutal racing at the back,” he said.
“Hopefully, I can jump myself above that group, but obviously it’s really tough it’s really competitive.”
Goodall is also keeping the bigger picture in mind.
“The goal is always to win Bathurst. I think that’s any driver’s ultimate dream,” he said.
“Coming here and doing this is the way to best prepare to do that.”
